江戸の浮世絵が確立した美人画。その流れは大正情、昭和の劇画、そして現代のマンガやイラストへと形を変えながら今も脈々と息づいています。
本展では時代ごとの理想の女性像を追い求めた表現者たちの軌跡を辿り、日本独自の「美の系譜」を紐解きます。

The genre of ‘bijin-ga’ (portraits of beautiful women) was established through Edo-period ukiyo-e. This tradition continues to thrive today, evolving in form through the Taisho-era lyrical art, Showa-era gekiga, and on to contemporary manga and illustration.
This exhibition traces the paths of artists who sought to capture the ideal female image of their respective eras, unravelling Japan’s unique ‘Genealogy of Beauty’.
